As a paper and book artist, I decided one day that my Big Book needed a handmade cover and set out to create one. I invited some friends in program to explore the idea with me. We played with paints, rubber stamps, decorative papers, glue and scissors and used them to transform sheets of paper. None of us knew quite how the effort would turn out; in effect, we left the results up to HP. As it happens, everyone’s cover was different and beautiful and spoke to both their aesthetic and spiritual self. Now my old cover is getting tattered and torn, so it’s time to make a new one. Through the 12 Step Art Project, I am opening up this process to other fellows interested in combining creativity with spiritual growth. I hope you’ll decide to give it a try.

Big Book Cover Project: Sunday, April 22, 1:30-3:00 p.m., at my home. All materials will be supplied. Fee is $10. Just bring your open-mindedness and willingness and leave the results up to your Higher Power (with a little guidance from me). Seating is limited. To reserve a spot at the table, please respond on or before April 18 via email at oalajess66@yahoo.com – ONLY if you plan to attend. My street address, directions and contact phone number will be sent at that time. If for some reason you need to cancel, please call as soon as possible so I can offer a seat to someone else who may be able to attend. Hope to see you soon. Until then, I wish you a happy, abstinent and, most of all, serene day.
